George E. Glass Of Oregon Arrived In Lisbon On August 24, 2017 To Serve As United States Ambassador To The Portuguese Republic.  He Presented His Credentials To The President Of The Portuguese Republic, Marcelo Rebelo De Sousa, On August 25Th, 2017.

Ambassador Glass Brings With Him To Portugal A Strong Commitment To Further Expand The Political And Economic Relationship Between The United States And Portugal.  During His Tenure, He Is Focused On Forging New Opportunities For American And Portuguese Businesses, Continuing To Develop Our Already Deep Defense And Security Alliance, And Connecting Our Communities Through Educational And Cultural Programs.  The Ambassador Is Also Looking Forward To Reconnecting With The Portuguese People And Their Culture, Following His Last Visit To Portugal In 2014.

Prior To Arriving In Lisbon, Ambassador Glass Was The Owner And Managing Partner Of Mgg Development Llc, A Commercial Enterprise That Purchases And Operates Apartment Complexes And Rental Homes.  He Was Also The Founder, President, And Vice Chairman Of Pacific Crest Securities, From 1990 To 2014. He Has Further Served As A Trustee For The Oregon Health Sciences University And For The University Of Oregon.

Ambassador Glass Holds A Bachelor Of Science Degree From The University Of Oregon.  He And His Wife, Mary, Have Three Adult Sons.
